to get a CV right? Seriously?

I have had a lot of conversations with people over the past couple of months and longer about job applications. And the one thing I put to people and employers/ interviewers put to me, is that preparation is key. Get the basics right!

  • No spelling mistakes
  • No punctuation mistakes
  • No lies
  • No photocopies
  • No “personal” email addresses (eg dutchgold01@…)
  • No pictures/ images/ colours
  • No unnecessary information.
  • No informalities
  • No shortcuts
  • No unused/ nonworking contact details
  • No out of date information
  • No public profiles on social networking sites (Facebook, Bebo, myspace etc) Employers are using them!

That’s some of the basics. More detailed stuff coming up soon!
